Newsletter, March 2015
Can you believe we are in March, and April with Easter break is knocking on our doors? Our holiday programs and agendas for Term 2 for all franchisees are available, so book your Little Cooks and/or Junior Chef’s space, or even for yourself or domestic, before it’s fully booked! All information is on our lovely events page, or mail the franchise closest to you for more information.
Our focus for 2015 is the care of your body and what you eat is what you will get in result. I once heard the saying: “Healthy mommy, happy baby”. This is so true, so let’s help you from the start: pregnancy, baby food, toddler’s Little Cooks classes, lunch boxes for school, teenager’s Junior Chefs courses, domestic courses, easy dinner nights and even nutrition for the elderly.
In the second term this year we will be participating in the well i am challenge that starts on 11 May 2015, as well as Jamie Olivier’s Food Revolution Day on 15 May 2015. See all the details of these two events and more current challenges below.
The well i am Challenge & Little Cooks Club
Lisa Raleigh’s project, well i am, launched in February 2013. Here, corporates and consumers enter an online holistic 13-week wellness transformation challenge with all the luxuries thrown in, the tools and skills to create life-long change and an online community of resources to keep you motivated. After an impressive turnout and results from both the first and second challenge, well i am has just completed its third successful season – the campaign titled “100 healthy days”. Keeping in line with being an online challenge with a difference, the next well i am challenge is set to launch in May 2015 and will have new and innovative tech and social updates.
This is an online challenge with a difference. Not only does it offer formal before-and-after assessments (in comparison to the usual do-it-yourself style), but it does not conflict with any existing fitness challenges – online or other. well i am supports whatever fitness journey you are on with a unique, incentivised support system to get you closer to your goals. The idea is that what you put in is what you get out; the more you try, the more you win. Entry also gets you into the exclusive Members’ Locker, where contestants can enjoy a secure platform to share recipes, results and motivation with one another, as well as have access to an extensive supply of eating plans and training programmes.
Little Cooks is part of this challenge, so sign up for this family challenge and reap the benefits thereof! If you feel like your family could do with a family “makeover”, go and sign up now. Make this change for everyone and win prizes too – R130 000 worth in prizes to be won.
Christine Phillips of Little Cooks Club is an ambassador of the Food Revolution in Johannesburg, South Africa. The Food Revolution is about standing up for Real Food and getting children excited about food and cooking. This is the philosophy of Little Cooks Club, so it’s the perfect match and why we are ambassadors for this wonderful project.
Christine and her group of franchisees throughout South Africa and Botswana will participate again this year in the annual Food Revolution Day on 15 May 2015. Contact the closest franchise to you for more information or if your organisation would like to join the initiative. Set aside the 15th for family cooking, or come to your nearest Little Cooks Club for classes. We will post pics and join the millions of people on that day to fight for real food and cooking with Jamie Oliver. Let South Africa stand out this year!
March Monthly Challenge
M is for Meat Free. Cutting back on your meat intake is great for your health (and also your wallet). We’re challenging you to go veggie for Meat Free Week, March 23rd-29th. It’s the perfect opportunity to embrace the wonderful world of seasonal veg!
20-week New Food Challenge
Although this challenge has already started (on Friday 6th of February 2015), you can still join in and just repeat the weeks missed at the end of the 20 weeks. Just like our Facebook Page to keep up to date with all the latest info.
The idea behind this challenge is to start introducing something fun into your family’s regular daily routine. Sometimes meal times can be a struggle, and so we’re trying to introduce a fun element to meals during the week.
The point is to cook together as a family, learn a little more about a specific food and how it effects your body. It’s a family game and the children can also look up more healthy recipes using the ingredients. The fun part: you get points for eating it that week and you start a reward chart with your kids.
